African Recycled Cobalt Blue Glass Statement Necklace, Inlaid Afghani Lapis Brass Pendant, Tibetan Gold Ethnic Tribal Style Glass Jewelry

by 123gemstones

African recycled cobalt blue glass bead statement necklace. This attractive necklace is made with handmade Ghana glass beads and ornate Tibetan gold beads. I used large chunky 18mm blue African glass beads handmade by the Krobo tribes-people. The focal is an inlaid Tibetan Nepalese handmade lapis lazuli and white howlite double fish brass pendant approximately 75 x 52mm in size. I used ornate Tibetan gold color 22 x 12mm hollow beads with smaller gold color spacer beads and gold plated 3mm beads on the end. The length is 17 inches with a 3 inch extension for a total length of about 20 inches. It is finished with a large Tibetan gold plated "S" clasp. This beautiful ethnic bead necklace has a tribal style to it and will go with anything.

These beads are made by the Krobo Tribe which is located in Ghana, Africa. Powder glass beads are made by crushing glass to a fine powder and heating it so that the particles fuse together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to make the hole. They are baked in an oven and the glass fuses and the cassava stem burns up. This technique has been used in Africa for centuries.
