turquoise Coral Lapis Repousse Butterfly Brass Pendant Tibetan Nepalese
Red Black Swirl Recycled Glass Beads (18mm)

African red swirl recycled glass bead statement necklace. This necklace is made with Ghana glass beads and ornate Tibetan gold beads. I used large chunky 18mm dark red African glass beads handmade by the Krobo tribes-people. The focal is an inlaid Tibetan Nepalese handmade inlaid turquoise, coral and lapis repousse butterfly brass pendant approximately 80 x 59mm in size. I used ornate Tibetan gold color 18mm hollow beads and 13mm gold flower wheel metal alloy spacer beads. The length is a little over 20 inches and it is finished with gold colored chain and a large Tibetan gold plated heart lobster clasp. This beautiful ethnic bead necklace has tribal style and it is a little on the heavier side.

These beads are made by the Krobo Tribe which is located in Ghana, Africa. Powder glass beads are made by crushing glass to a fine powder and heating it so that the particles fuse together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to make the hole. They are baked in an oven and the glass fuses and the cassava stem burns up. This technique has been used in Africa for centuries.
