Wattle and bamboo hand painted, handmade ceramic hanging pot in handmade macrame hanger with beads
This little hanging stoneware pot is pretty and delicate. The hand painted design in melon, yellow and green puts me in mind of wattle and bamboo -an unusual combination for sure! The whole piece has been glazed except for the base.
The white cotton, long tailed, macrame hanger gives it a certain elegance. Handmade, hand painted, porcelain beads, and wooden beads have been threaded through the macrame work.
The pot has been integrated with its hanger via macrame through three holes at the pot rim. This allows more delicacy in the macrame work as the hanger alone doesn't have to support the weight of the pot. I've found that this method also allows for a nice, aesthetic integration of pot and hanger.
The pot sports multiple drainage holes, rather than one central hole, to ensure better protection for the tassels. It doesn't have a drip tray so it might be better suited for hanging in wet areas of the house, such as bathrooms, under verandas or even outside. The cotton has been water proofed to give the twine a longer life.
Plantings of miniature ferns, violets, trailing herbs and trailing succulents would work well in this pot.
The pot measures 11.5 cm across the rim, has a bowl depth of 6 cm and weighs 259 gms. The total piece measures 1.2 metres in drop from the silver hanging ring to the end of the tassels. Tassels can be cut and re-knotted for a shorter tail.
