Taino Coqui Frog Necklace Pink Porcelain Gold Lustre Ceramic Pendant Petroglyph
Beautiful porcelain pendant necklace I created from fine porcelain clay in which I carved the ancient Taino stone petroglyph for the Coqui Frog symbol found on the island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean.
I handmade this porcelain pendant, fired, then glazed and fired once again. I then painted the Taino Frog with genuine gold glaze and fired it for a third and final time in the kiln.
Threaded onto an adjustable black 1mm Hemp cord. The pendant measures 3/4" long by 5/8" wide by 1/8" thick (20mm x 11mm x 5mm).

The TaÃnos, whose name literally translates to "good people", were the seafaring people indigenous to the Bahamas, Greater Antilles, and the northern Lesser Antilles. The TaÃnos were considered one of the Arawak peoples of South America, and their language was a member of the Arawakan family of language in the northern areas of South America. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Trinidad, Jamaica, Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), and Puerto Rico. When Christopher Columbus arrived to the New World in 1492, he became one of the first (and only) outsiders to witness the TaÃno culture.
