This is a 2019 calendar of my original photography titled “Ruby Throated Hummingbird 2019”. It is a 12-month calendar that includes my original photography of the Ruby Throated Hummingbird, the only Hummingbird that visits my home state of Minnesota. All of the images were taken in my own backyard in Minnesota. Each year I plant more and more flowers in my gardens in hopes of attracting these tiny birds. I also put out several nectar feeders and plenty of perches where they can perch. The first sighting in my yard was May 3rd and it happened to be a male! They migrate back to the north country well ahead of the females. There were still many females and juveniles in the garden well into September. I spent hours and hours photographing these beautiful little birds and they were completely comfortable with me being very close. In fact, often times they would hover just inches away from my face or zip past my head. I hope you enjoy these images throughout the year.
