Raw Honey Facial Mask, Tired Skin, Oily Skin, Perk up the Complexion, Peppermint, Lemongrass

by meadowmuffin2010

Ideal for deep cleaning and drawing out impurities, facial masks are a beneficial part of a facial care routine. Honey masks are nourishing, moisturizing and gentle enough to not strip the skin of its natural protective oils.

Let the bees help you maintain a beautiful complexion. Wildflower and clover honey already have the beneficial attributes of these herbs within the honey itself.

Honey is a natural humectant which means it retains moisture and plumps up skin cells. The high sugar, low protein content create an acidic environment with limited availability of water, therefore bacteria cannot thrive.

Raw honey has a different look than pasteurized commercial honey. It has not been heated or filtered therefore it looks a bit cloudy and has flecks of the activities of the hive, such as honeycomb bits and pollen. Having a high anti-oxidant level and being the natural enzymes have not been destroyed by heat, raw honey is a much healthier product.

The raw honey used is a thick, creamed honey which is nice in that it won't drip down your face as readily as will regular honey.
This statement if from the supplier of the honey used for our masks:
"We strain the honey at extraction through a screen to get any foreign particles out (bee wings, legs etc).
We do not filter through a cheesecloth at bottling.
Crystallization has to due to the moisture content, forage type and temperature warmed to bottle.
We warm on average to 100 degrees for a short while to be able to bottle."

Trying to control oily or blemished skin by washing too frequently with soap can backfire resulting in dry irritated skin while further increasing the production of oil. Some acne treatments are just too harsh and drying.

Honey all by itself is wonderful but our treatment for tired and/or oily skin utilizes the properties of two essential oils, peppermint and lemongrass.

Lemongrass is like a refreshing blast of water, very useful for people who have trouble concentrating or getting started in the morning. The main component in lemongrass is citral which makes it an effective antiseptic. In skin care, it stimulates lymph drainage, helps reduce swollen tissues, and helps with oily skin and large pores.

The mint family is like a first-aid kit. Just a few of the ailments the menthas can help with are poor concentration, headaches, weakness, cramps and nausea. In skin care, peppermint acts as an antiseptic, reduces swelling, stimulates lymph drainage, cleanses, refreshes and perks up tired, pallid skin.

Ideally you should begin this treatment with a facial steam to open up your pores which will enable the masque to penetrate more deeply. Apply a thin film onto your face and neck and relax for about 30 minutes. Wash off with warm water and observe how fine lines seem to vanish and your face appears more vibrant and supple.

Lemongrass may cause skin sensitivity in some people, so do a patch test the first time you use this facial mask.

Masks can be used two or three times a week. Take note that it is normal for honey to crystallize. Use as is for a bit of exfoliation as you apply the honey or microwave for just a few seconds.

Being honey naturally crystallizes with time, you can then also use as you would a sugar scrub. Apply a bit to finger tips or facial cloth and use gentle circular motions to cleanse.

External use only.

Blemish Treatment Raw Honey Masque comes in a 1/2 oz., 1 oz., 2 oz. or 4 oz. jar
