Carmelite Sunbird 1843 Victorian Sir William Jardine Naturalist Library Antique Engraving, Pl 14

by PetitPoulailler

Carmelite Sunbird [Nectarinia Fuliginosa]

A sumptuous hand colored Victorian engraving gleaned from Sir William Jardine's 1843 natural history ornithology reference. Finely etched and published by William H. Lizars of Edinburgh, the heavy paper is top-tipped in gold, blank on its reverse, and shows a gentle tanning - two edge nicks along the top which matting or framing will easily see to.

Otherwise the edges are smooth and clear with no folds, creases, marks, or tears. Measuring 4" x 6.625" (10x17 cm), the paper shows gentle all over tanning and is smooth and clean, the paper edges are clear and unmarked, with the corner tips only just softened.

The engraving is clear and strong and the hand-coloring is bright, vivid, and exact and there are no tears, folds, creases, or marks. A beautiful subject to frame and gift to that favorite bird-watcher you love. Perhaps you'll use the lovely image in your art - it is ideal for card and tag creations, collage ... or keep in the ever-growing scrap-book paper stash you love.

You are purchasing an original 1843 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
