Minerals and Rocks 1885 Antique German Joseph Meyer Engraved Geology Chromolithograph

by PetitPoulailler

Salvaged from a discarded 1885 Joseph Meyers German natural history reference, here is a wonderful engraved chromolithograph featuring 24 "Mineralien und Gesteine" [Minerals and Rocks].

The captioning under each of the twenty-four images is in German and reads -

4. Stängeliges Aggregat. [Fingery Aggregate.]

6. Dendritische Mineralbildung. [Dendritic mineral formation.]
7. Aufgewachsene Kristalle. Druse. [Grown crystals.]

24. Oberfläche von Lava. [Surface of lava.]

What a handsome image to frame for your home decor [I'm thinking den or man-cave!] or perhaps you'll frame and gift to that geology geek you adore. Or perhaps these brilliant images will make their way into your art? Perfect for card and tag creations, scrap-book page making, collage. A wonderful addition to your at-the-ready and always growing ephemera supply.

The heavy paper is clean and the chromolithograph has been protected by tissue, still safely attached, so the paper shows little tanning or foxing. Blank on its reverse, the paper measures 9.5" x 12" (24x30.5 cm) - this is a double page with a clean vertical fold where the chromolithograph was inserted into the volume. There is a protective onion sheet tucked between the two sides. The paper is clean, without creases, marks, tears, or other folds.

You are purchasing an original 1885 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
