The Honourable Mrs Irby 1834 Georgian London Society Engraved Black and White Portrait Engraving

by PetitPoulailler

In her formal attire, here we have caught the Honorable Mrs. Irby looking up from her latest bodice-ripper novel. Keeping her fingers in the book to mark her place, it's clear she wants us to go away and let her get back to her 4th re-reading of ... ahem ... 'Sense and Sensibility'.

The 180+ year old engraving has a still-attached protective tissue covering; the portrait is clear and beautiful showing only a light foxing at the edges. The heavy paper is blank on its reverse and measures 5.5" x 9.5" (14x24 cm). The engraving is credited to Sir Thomas Lawrence and J. Cochran.

The portrait was included in the August 1834 edition of 'Court' and there are no folds, tears, creases, or marks. What a stunning piece to frame - for bath or bedroom, studio or dressing room. Or perhaps this will find its way into your art? Ideal for card and tag creations, scrap-book page making, collage.

You are purchasing an original 1834 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
