Osprey 1833 Victorian Sir William Jardine 'Naturalist Library' Antique Hand-Colored Engraving, Pl 14

by PetitPoulailler

Osprey

Gleaned from Jardine's 1833 natural history volume on ornithology, "Birds of Great Britain and Ireland", here is a sumptuous engraving credited to the John Home Lizars of Edinburgh.

'The Naturalist Library' was a series of 40 natural history volumes of hand colored engravings and notes published by Sir William Jardine (English, 1800-74) between the years 1833-43.

The heavy paper is blank on its reverse, top-tipped in gold, and measures 4.25" x 6.5" (11x17 cm). Little tanning is seen as the protective tissue is still here [but has become detached]. The edges are smooth and the corner tips slightly softened. Please note: a 1/4" corner tear at the upper right corner. There are no folds, creases, marks, or other tears.

A gorgeous study to frame for your home decor, perfect for your art - tag and card creations, scrap-book page making, collage.

You are purchasing an original 1833 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
