Silver Pheasant 1839 Antique Sir William Jardine Naturalist Library Engraving, Pl 18

by PetitPoulailler

The Silver Pheasant

A sumptuous engraving gleaned from Jardine's 1839 Naturalist's Library reference on ornithology and Gallinaceous Birds. And yes, I had to look it up, too - 'gallinaceous' means 'heavy-bodied ground-feeding domestic or game birds'.

Finely etched and published by William H. Lizars of Edinburgh; the art is not credited. The heavy paper measures 4.25" x 6.5" (11x17 cm), top-tipped in gold and shows only gentle tanning since the protective tissue remains attached.

The edges are clean and clear and the corner tips have gently softened. There are no tears, folds, creases, or marks. A beautiful subject to frame or use in your art - it's a lovely antique paper.

You are purchasing an original 1839 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
