Tribal Indian silver necklace Rajasthani antique OOAK

by princess jaipur

Circa 1900-1920

Handmade original, purchased directly from a jeweller in Rajasthan in Jaipur.

Comprised of three main pieces, all moveable. The two crescents are hollow and feature delicate inscribed patterns of sways and triangles on the front and is plain on the reverse, adorned with diamond-shaped dangles. This is finished with a beautiful round hollow medallion with more diamond-shaped dangles. Adjustable black thread that ensures you can wear this unique piece high as a bib or low slung. The threading is not original to the piece.

I've saved the best for last: the large medallion is etched on both sides - one with an erotic picture of a couple from the kamasutra and the other with the profile of a man's head! Quirky. I do not know who he is or what he represents so if someone out there does, please enlighten me.

Please note the last photo shows as it currently is after I have cleaned the piece.
