TRIFARI signed vermeil Regal Crown Brooch by Alfred Philippe pat 1944
This signed Trifari Crown Brooch is a very famous and sought after piece. It was produced in the war years when the manufacturers could only use sterling silver......... as base metal was used for the war effort. The patent was obtained in 1944 and was designed by Alfred Philippe for the Trifari Company.
The sterling silver was covered with a gold wash and is called "vermeil" in the costume jewelry world.
It measures 2 " across by 1 3/4" H and is signed TRIFARI STERLING and has the patent number on the bottom of the brooch back. This is the larger brooch that was produced in this pattern.
There are 2 large Jelly Belly red cabochons and a smaller blue cab. The crown is accented with pave rhinestones, green and blue rhinestones and green baguettes and topped with a sparkling red rhinestone.
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition. This is truly a collectors piece!
