1890s O.N.T. Spool Cotton Victorian Advertising Trade Card - Clark Thread Company - Mount Hood -
Card has been cut- but does not take away from the beauty of the scene

The Clark Thread Company began in 1812 as a Scottish manufacturer of sewing thread, which in 1864 opened a plant in New Jersey to better market its cotton thread to United States consumers. Twenty years later, George Clark developed a six-cord, soft finished thread, the first suitable for machine use, which revolutionized the sewing industry. He called the new machine thread "Our New Thread." This became known as O.N.T., originating the still famous trademark for the Clark Thread Company product.

This large 5" x 7-1/2" trade card is a pastel three-color chromo lithograph printed on heavy sepia-toned textured card stock, and is suitable for framing. Both the lithographer and the artist are unknown.
