White Pine Tree on Blue Green Dichroic Glass Triangle Pendant with a Silver Columbine Bail

by Silvertree

Bright green and blue dichroic glass with a white pine tree permanently fused on the top. It has a handmade fine silver columbine element and a commercial bail. The columbines grow under the pine trees in my yard so I like to use this in my jewelry designs. The 16" black cotton cord has sterling silver ends and a spring ring clasp. The tree pendant is 3/4" wide by 1 3/4" tall including the bail.

To make this glass gem, I fused layers of green and blue dichroic glass. After fusing, I ground the glass with diamond tools to refine the shape, and put the pine tree decal on the glass. After that, I fired it in the kiln again to permanently fuse the tree to the glass. This step also polishes the glass surface and the slow cooling tempers the glass.

To make the columbine element I used PMC fine silver clay. I press the silver clay into my mold and then fire it in my kiln. This high heat causes the silver clay flower to turn into pure silver. Then I clean and polish my fine silver flower. When all the parts are ready, I assemble the pendant. The commercial bail, cord ends and clasp are marked .925.

I have been designing and handcrafting jewelry for over 40 years. Each item that I make is individually handcrafted, and one-of-a-kind.
