Vintage 1977 German Shepherd complete illustrated dog book
by The Rookery
The " Bear" dog, Ch. Bar V. Weiherturchen,
is the grand fellow adorning the cover of this Complete German Shepherd Dog book. He won 12 best in shows, 46 Group Firsts, and 107 Bests of Breed.
Another great book in my collection of stuff I love..... but will never have. There are no colour photos in this book but dozens of beautiful dogs in original black and white. These georgeous dogs seem to be predominantly happy and alert and there are very few photos of a German Shepherd that don't show that big ole tongue hanging out the front saying..."Hi...here I am. Aren't I wonderful?!"
This book is the Fourth Edition, and the 12th printing of The Complete German Shepherd Dog. Written by Milo Denlinger, Anne F. Paramoure, and Gerda M. Umlauff and published by Howell Book House Inc. New York, in1947. It is 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 1 1/4", and has 124 pages. It weighs almost 2lbs. The spine binding is torn apprx. 3" on the back side and could easily be repaired with archival tape. Someone tried to stick clear tape on the tear at some point (you can see the residue) but it is not there now and hasn't done any damage.(see photo) The book is in excellent condition: no foxing, dirt, marks or stains. It holds its form squarely and there are no tears anywhere on any of the pages.
This book would be excellent reading for a shepherd enthusiast and would look terrific on your coffee table, when you have visitors.
I have another historical book on German Shepherds listed in my shop. If you would like them as a pair, we can certainly arrange a reduced price for both.
Overseas shipping is expensive and I would have to work out an acceptable price to include the extra charges.
Thanks for looking.
