Vintage Handworked Crewel embroidered picture after Norman Rockwell's Colonial Lady 1981, dimensional hair

by The Vintage Hart

This illustration is called Woman Stitching from the 1981 and shows us a well dressed lady working on her embroidery sampler which is pictured on the wall above her. Her hair is dimensional which gives a special look to this 12 x 16 crewel work. This is after an illustration by Norman Rockwell who provided covers for the Saturday Evening Post where he enjoyed an audience larger than any artist in history. He was cited as a Great Living American in 1957 by the United States Chamber of Commerce: "Through the magic of your talent, the folks next door - their gentle sorrows and their modest joys - have enriched our own lives and given us new insight into our countrymen."
This picture is a favorite with needleworkers of all kinds and would make a lovely addition to your sewing room wall or as a gift for one of your talented friends.
This is stitched in crewel style with 100% Persian wool, 100% cotton embroidery thread on 100% cotton cottage cloth. The needle woman's name and the date, 1982, is inscribed on the cardboard backer along with information about Norman Rockwell.

Comes from a smoke and pet free studio.
The kit costs nearly 90,00US if you can find it...and here we have it already done by a talented needle woman.
